Elginburg and District Public School….. ‘Enter to Learn’
The village of Elginburg is located at the cross roads of Unity and Sydenham Roads, which is five minutes north by car from HWY 401 along Sydenham Road. The school is immediately east of the crossroads, at 2100 Unity Road, Elginburg. A small, rural school of approximately 220 full time Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8 students, EDPS is situated on a large and wonderful property that boasts an outdoor classroom, a track, three playground structures, and a large field area with soccer posts that is used by the community on a regular basis. The majority of our student body rides one of 4 buses to school. Our school day begins at 9:05 a.m. and finishes at 3:35 p.m. A sense of pride and history are part of EDPS and a number of our students are second and third generation family members attending the school.
Elginburg and District Public School opened in the early spring of 1961, and is celebrating its 50th anniversary in the spring of 2011. A strong community school with an active School Council, our school is also an award winning school for its garden which greets visitors as they enter. Extra curricular student activities are valued at EDPS, and students are given many opportunities to hone their positive leadership and citizenship skills, participate in teams and clubs, support the environment, and celebrate the arts in all forms. Academics also play a strong part in the everyday school environment and our teachers and support staff are committed to student success each and every day. Elginburg Eagle awards are given at monthly school assemblies to promote positive citizenship and caring attitudes and academic achievement. EDPS is continually proud of its students, its staff, and its wonderful
family and community relationships.
