Dear Elginburg Families,

Welcome to June! We continue to have many events planned for the weeks ahead, so please see the above dates, along with communication from your child/ren’s classroom teachers. May was a busy month for all Elginburg Eagles. We started the month with both basketball teams for junior boys and girls ending the season with successful tournaments at Queen’s University. Congratulations to all students involved, and Mrs. Heyman and Mrs. Rankine for coaching! From May 4th to May 10th, Elginburg participated in activities for Mental Health Week. Thank you to Mrs. Godin for supporting and coordinating information for all staff. The LCVI race was also a success! Thank you to Mrs. Robinson and Mrs. Rankine for supporting. LDSB’s first track meet in Kingston, also saw our Elginburg Eagles soar! Big thanks to Mrs. Robinson, Mrs. McIntosh, and Mr. Harding for coaching. The Annual EDPS Talent Show was nothing short of INCREDIBLE. We have so much Eagle talent! A huge THANK YOU to Mrs. Guild, Ms. Furst, Mrs. Burns, and Ms. Schall for supporting, organizing, and participating! Welcome to Limestone and to all of the Kindergarten families who will be joining us this fall. We had a great turnout on May 27th, and all new Eagles enjoyed a bus ride to wrap up the evening. Finally, the IST Celebration was a success on May 28th, so thank you to all families who joined us, and to Ms. Dennie, Mrs. Clancy, Mrs. Lovett, Mrs. Lindenblatt, Ms. Periera, Ms. Fitzgerald, and Ms. Newbury-Reilly.

We have many events planned for June, so please continue to review weekly messages from the school and individual classrooms. Please note highlighted dates above, and notice below regarding the Fun Fair and Mrs. Guild’s Class - Grandfriends - Celebration - June 19th.

Mental Health Supports

In response to tragic events, locally or globally, students may experience a wide range of emotions, including sadness, confusion, worry, or questions about what they may be hearing from others. Students may react in different ways depending on their age, experiences, and how connected they feel to the situation. With time, reassurance, and support from caring adults, these reactions often ease.

We encourage families to keep lines of communication open at home, to invite questions, and to offer reassurance as needed. If you have concerns about your student or would like support, please refer to the following resources:

· Supporting Your Child’s Well-being

· Caring for yourself while caring for others: A parent’s guide to self-care

· By Your Side (parent/caregiver resources to support mental health learning)

· Maltby Centre

· One Stop Talk

· Kids Help Phone (Call 1-800-668-6868 or Text “Connect” to 686868)

· 2-1-1 Ontario

If you are worried about your student’s immediate safety, or the safety of others, please seek urgent assistance by calling 9-1-1, your local mobile crisis service (613-354-7388), or by going to the nearest emergency department.
