Land Acknowledgement

The Limestone District School Board is situated on the traditional territories of the Anishinaabek and Haudenosaunee. We acknowledge their enduring presence on this land, as well as the presence of Métis, Inuit, and other First Nations from across Turtle Island. We honour their cultures and celebrate their commitment to this land.

Mission:

Our mission is to support Indigenous students and their families throughout their educational experiences by centering Indigenous knowledges, identities, and ways of knowing. We are committed to creating learning environments where Indigenous students feel seen, valued, and supported, while also strengthening relationships and building capacity within schools and communities to honour and uplift Indigenous perspectives in education.

Vision:

Our vision is to deepen understanding and appreciation of Indigenous perspectives, identities, and ways of knowing across all roles within the education system. Through intentional collaboration, ongoing professional learning, and the creation of meaningful, land-based and culturally rooted experiences, we are committed to improving educational outcomes and fostering brave, inclusive spaces where Indigenous students feel seen, valued, and empowered. Central to this vision is building the capacity of staff to engage with Indigenous knowledge systems in respectful and meaningful ways, laying the foundation for enduring and transformative change.

Values:

  • Respect for Indigenous Knowledge Systems
  • Applying the 4 Rs of Indigenous Education; Respect, Responsibility, Reciprocity, and Relevancy
  • Empowerment and Student-Centered Support
