<p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The Limestone District School Board (LDSB) has received a $25,000 grant through the Community Foundation for Kingston and Area’s Community Grants Program in support of its Elementary Summer Literacy and Math Program.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The three-week program supports Limestone students finishing Senior Kindergarten to Grade 3 by strengthening foundational skills in reading, writing, and mathematics to help set students up for success in the following school year.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Grant funding will be used to purchase literacy and math learning resources and to create family engagement packages. These take-home resources are designed to support learning at home and encourage families to engage in literacy and math activities alongside their students.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The LDSB is grateful to the Community Foundation for Kingston and Area for their generous support, helping students across the district access this important summer learning opportunity.</span></p>

<p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The Limestone District School Board is deeply saddened by the passing of Trustee Jim Neill, who served as a Trustee since 2022. Jim passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">During his time on the Board, Trustee Neill demonstrated a commitment to public education and to supporting the work of the Board in service of students, families, and communities across Limestone. He was a long-time educator in the Upper Canada District School Board, as well as served for multiple terms as a City of Kingston Councillor. We are grateful for the contributions he made as a Trustee.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">We extend our sincere condolences to Trustee Neill’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">“We are saddened by the passing of Trustee Jim Neill,” said Board Chair Karen McGregor. “Jim brought a thoughtful presence to the Board and a genuine interest in public education. <p class="editor-paragraph" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">EDPS is hosting a spring talent show!</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Auditions are Wednesday, April 29th from 3:40 - 4:40pm.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">If your child has a talent - whether it is singing, dancing, magic, jokes, cheer, juggling, acrobatics, music, art, drama, or any talent that would WOW a crowd, we would love to see them at tryouts. Individual and group talents are welcomed.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">If your child requires music, a karaoke backing track or any specific equipment, please fillout the information below with your child's name, grade and details. We will aim to have everything ready for tryouts. This survey gives families an opportunity to share their experiences with their student’s school and with the school board.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The feedback helps us understand what is working well and where we can improve. The findings support planning and decision-making that promotes equity, well being, and student success across Limestone schools. February has been a month filled with engaging activities. Students celebrated Black History Month by focusing on Black Excellence, learning about and recognizing famous Canadians for their contributions to society. The EDPS School Council hosted a successful Valentine's Dance on Wednesday, February 11 (thank you!). Bus presentations happened on February 12, and all Term One Report Cards were distributed to families on Friday, February 14. On Tuesday, February 17, EDPS participated at Queen's University and both teams (Boys/Girls) had success! Congratulations to all who participated, and special thanks to the coaches (Ms. Schall and Mrs. Heyman). As we head into term two, Elginburg staff welcome Breanna Neden, who will be our Learning Coach from the LDSB this term! We will continue to collaborate with a focus on numeracy and literacy. </span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">March has some key events happening to share with the EDPS Community. Wednesday, March 4th we kick off March Math-ness with Games Day, where students are paired with classes to engage with numeracy games. This Thursday, March 5th, the Elginburg School Council is kindly hosting a Hot Dog Lunch for all students (on School Day *Mr. Harding’s class - March 10th due to curling trip). The IST Student Celebration is also happening on this day, from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm. March Break is almost upon us! Students will enjoy time off from Monday, March 16th to Friday, March 20th. Dup15 occurs in 1 in 30 000 births. They have an extra copy of their 15th chromosome, which results in developmental disabilities, speech delays and physical delays. They attend various therapies on a regular basis to help develop their gross motor and fine motor skills and their speech. On Thursday, February 27th, Mrs. Guild’s class had a special presenter, Nora (Claire and Audrey’s sister). Mom and Dad came too! Nora shared with the grade 3 class this information and answered questions students had.
